<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron-emitting element which shows superior electron emission characteristics by improving conductivity between a cathode electrode and an electron-emitting region in the electron-emitting element using a carbon nanotube. <P>SOLUTION: This electron-emitting element is provided with an electron-emitting part 11 to emit an electron by the action of an electric field, and a cathode electrode 12 and a gate electrode 13 to add the electric field to this electron-emitting part 11.
