<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent uncomfortable feeling from being given to a driver of an oncoming car and lowering of the service life of a bulb in a head light system for a vehicle controlling the light of a plurality of lighting units stored in a lamp body according to a vehicle traveling state. <P>SOLUTION: In this head light system, the plurality of lighting units radiating beam to the front of the vehicle in a specified light distribution pattern are stored in the lamp body, and the radiation of a reinforced lighting unit is controlled according to the vehicle traveling state. The light source applied voltages (effective value thereof, hereafter referred to as light source applied voltage) of the lighting units as radiation control means are gradually lowered to control and go off light. When the applied voltages lower to a specified threshold (lower limit of applied voltage at which a metal does not reach a transition point where a metal structure is changed by gradual cooling) Vc, the light source applied voltage is suddenly controlled to zero.
