PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire without occurrence of a static electricity trouble, while reducing rolling resistance and maintaining excellent low fuel consumption. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire has a tread of a two-layer structure of a cap tread layer and a base tread layer. In cap rubber for forming the cap tread layer, a volume resistance value is made as≤10<SP>8</SP>(Ωcm). Base rubber for forming the base tread layer is made by containing modified polybutadiene rubber 10 to 50 pts.wt. modified by at least one of modifying agent selected from the group consisting of a compound having -CX-N<linkage (X shows oxygen or a sulfur atom in the formula) in molecule, benzophenone, thiobenzophenone, an isocyanate compound and a halogenated tin compound, and natural rubber and/or isoprene rubber 90 to 50 pts.wt.
