<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nicotianamine synthase(NAS), and to provide a gene encoding the same. <P>SOLUTION: The nicotianamine synthase having a specific amino acid sequence or an amino acid sequence where a part of the amino acids in the above sequence is deleted or substituted, more specifically a new nicotianamine synthase derived from Arabidopsis thaliana, is provided.
