PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a prepreg, by which the formation of a matrix resin-non-impregnated portion at the edge of the prepreg and the formation of wrinkles on the prepreg can be prevented, and to provide an apparatus for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the prepreg is characterized by disposing sheet control means each having a measure-equipped bar extended in the width direction of a reinforcing fiber sheet and further having two indication guides movably disposed on the bar in the front of and behind a moving and impregnation means in a reinforcing fiber sheet-supplying direction, measuring the widths of the reinforcing fiber sheet and the positions of both the edges of the sheet before and after the transfer and impregnation treatment of the matrix resin, and controlling the widths and the positions to prescribed widths and prescribed positions.
