PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma type melting furnace of such a structure that the incineration ash and the splashing ash from incineration are melted upon mixing or individually using a plasma torch, capable of establishing a seal of the intra-furnace pressure and the electric insulation at the insert hole of the plasma torch safely and certainly. SOLUTION: The melting furnace is equipped with a supply device for supplying the ash in the furnace, the plasma torch 5 and a counter-electrode for generating plasma in the furnace, a furnace body 1 to hold the ash melted by the plasma, a seal plate 15 for sealing the intra-furnace pressure by sealing tightly the part where the plasma torch 5 is inserted into the furnace, and an actuator 16 for pressing the seal plate 15 to the plasma torch 5.
