PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller bearing having a pin type retainer allowing improvement of durability by preventing deformation of an engagement hole for engaging an engaging shaft section of a pin and preventing breakage of the pin and an annular side plate. SOLUTION: The roller bearing has the pin type retainer 24A having a plurality of pins 23 of which both ends are connected to a pair of annular side plates 31 and 32A arranged facedly on the same axis, and a plurality of hollow rollers 27 that are rotatably supported on the outer periphery of each pin 23 and are disposed rollably between inner and outer rings 21 and 22. The annular side plate 32A having the engagement hole 26 for engaging the engaging shaft section 25 of each pin 23 is machined from carbon steel for construction such as S45C and S48C as material, undergoes heat refining including hardening/annealing, and undergoes curing for increasing hardness to the range of HRC 22-29.
