PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: up to now, a glassy material which has a softening point of 300°C or lower, satisfies severe requirements for heat resistance, airtightness, and low-melting point characteristics, and mainly comprises silica without containing lead is not yielded. SOLUTION: The organic-inorganic hybrid glassy material has the following characteristics: it mainly comprises silica without containing lead; its softening point is 300°C or lower; it contains at least one element selected from among Li, Na, K, B, P, Zr, Ta, Ge, and Sn; it has metal units each having an organic functional group; and it is produced by a sol-gel method and/or an anhydrous acid-base reaction.
