<p>A protein (I) comprising a fully defined sequence of 261 amino acids, a functional equivalent of (I), or a fragment of (I) having at least 60% sequence homology, that imparts resistance to 2-deoxyglucose (DOG), is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a nucleic acid (II) encoding (I); (2) a transgenic expression cassette comprising a promoter and at least one (II), where (II) is heterologous with respect to either the promoter or the intended host organism; (3) a transgenic expression vector containing at least one (II) or the expression cassette; (4) a transgenic organism containing at least one (II), the expression cassette of (3) or the vector of (4); and (5) selecting transgenic organisms or cells, based on resistance to 2-deoxyglucose.</p> |
