CELLULOSE ESTER FILM, POLARIZER, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE, AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF CELLULOSE ESTER FILM AND POLARIZER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester film containing a UV absorbing polymer that does not migrate to the surface due to the bleed phenomenon even at the time of drawing or under high temperature and high humidity, thus not spoiling optical characteristics, and that shows excellent optical compensation ability; and to provide a wide view angle polarizer excellent in the characteristic of angle of visibility and a liquid crystal display device using it.

SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film contains 1-20 mass% of a UV absorbing polymer containing/derived from a UV absorbing monomer shown by general formula (1) or (2), per 100 parts by mass of a cellulose ester resin having degrees of substitution indicated by the undermentioned inequalities (1) and (2). The film is so oriented as for a retardation value R0in the plane direction to be 20-100 nm and for a retardation value Rtin the thickness direction to be 70-300 nm. Here, the inequality (1) indicates 2.4≤A+B≤2.8 and the inequality (2) indicates 1.4≤A≤2.0, wherein A is a degree of substitution by an acetyl group; and B is a degree of substitution by a 3-4C acyl group.
