PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a printing blanket, the thickness variability of which falls within the range of about 1/100 mm or less when the blanket is tensely mounted on the cylinder of a printing machine. SOLUTION: In the manufacture of the printing blanket, a surface rubber layer is laminated on a support layer including at least one base and both are molded in one piece. Next, the surface rubber layer is polished while a tension of 5 to 20 kgf/cm is applied to the obtained molded body. When the molded body is molded into a long sheet 1, the surface rubber layer is polished using a polishing roll 2 while the tension is applied to the molded body using a back roll 3. In the case of a short sheet, the molded body is mounted on a cylinder 4 under the tension of 5 to 20 kgf/cm applied thereto and the surface rubber layer is polished. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
