PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent drop of an elevating body not caused by rupture and loosening of a rope body. SOLUTION: This safety device for article storage facility is constituted in such a way that the article storage facility is provided with an elevating driving means having a lifting belt 28A, a lifting wire 28B, and a pulling-down wire 32 connected with the elevating body 21 having a transfer device, a drive wheel body 30 around which the lifting wire and the pulling-down wire are wound in the directions different from each other, and an elevating driving device 31 rotating and driving the drive wheel body 30 forward and reversely. It is provided with an elevating body position detector 122 detecting travel of the elevating body 21, a rotation drive detector 123 detecting amount of rotation of the elevating driving device 31, and a drive wheel body fixing device 124 fixing the drive wheel body. It is further provided with a drop prevention control part 125 which determines deviation of a position of the elevating body 21 by the elevating body position detector 122 and a position of the elevating body 21 by the rotation drive detector 123 to operate the drive wheel body fixing device 124 and stop drop of the elevating body 21.
