PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup actuator provided with a pattern coil which allows driving in focusing, tracking, and tilting directions to be performed. SOLUTION: An optical pickup actuator includes a blade having an objective lens mounted thereon, an elastic support member supporting the blade so that the blade is freely movable with respect to a prescribed holder on a base, a magnet installed on the base, and a pattern coil installed in the blade so as to face the magnet. The pattern coil has a tracking coil and at least one pair of focusing coils symmetrically disposed on both sides of the tracking coil, and driving in the focusing direction and driving in the tilting direction are selectively performed depending on the direction in which a current flows through the pair of focusing coils. This configuration allows not only focusing and tracking control but also tilting control to be easily performed to increase the precision of control. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
