PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for effectively photographing the face of an intruder by illuminating the intruder from the above by using a ceiling-installed illuminating device and an inexpensive photographic camera mounted on general housing. SOLUTION: A human being detecting sensor 1 for detecting an intruder X and a ceiling illuminating device 3 for illuminating an intruder X are installed at the beam part of a ceiling, and an illumination is set at a position where illuminance enabling a photographic camera 4 to photograph the intruder even in a dark room at night can be maintained so that it is possible to photograph the intruder with the camera which is not equipped with any dark viewing function. Furthermore, the ceiling illumination and inexpensive camera set in general housing are used so that it is possible to provide a highly practical and convenient intruder photographing device. Thus, the problem is solved that, since a conventional camera monitoring device using a human being detecting sensor is provided with an illumination installed on a wall surface, the intruder may hide the face when the intruder is photographed.
