PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilation fan capable of being embodied at low cost and enhancing the wind quantity performance. SOLUTION: The ventilation fan is equipped with an opening/closing mechanism to advance and retreat an opening/closing plate which is positioned confronting a fan or a motor to drive the fan and opens and closes a vent opening by making an advance and retreat in the direction perpendicular to the mounting surface. The opening/closing mechanism is located in the peripheral part of the opening/closing plate and a casing arranged in such a way as surrounding at least one of the fan and the motor.
