PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clothing printer having such an arrangement as positioning can be carried out accurately and easily while preventing contamination of clothing when it is printed. SOLUTION: The ink jet clothing printer 1 comprises an ink jet head 5 for ejecting ink toward the surface of clothing, and a platen 14 capable of setting the clothing (T-shirt) t and forming a surface for ejecting ink when the clothing is set. The ink jet head 5 and the platen 14 move relatively while keeping a specified distance g1 and print a desired image on the surface of the clothing t set on the platen 14. The platen 14 is provided with a part for positioning the clothing t by at least one (neck part tn) of its neck part and shoulder part while spacing apart from the ink jet head 5 by a distance g2 longer than the specified distance g1.
