PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool, simply and surely detecting a chuck error to prevent the generation of defective. SOLUTION: In this machine tool, a tool holder to which a tool is fitted is mounted on a spindle 1, and the spindle is driven to rotate, thereby machining a work. The machine tool includes: a sensor 12 measuring the displacement of the outer peripheral surface of a flange 2B of the tool holder 2 mounted on the spindle 1 and a chuck error detecting device 10 formed of a data processor for determining the abnormality of mounting state of the tool holder 2 to the spindle 1 from the measurement data obtained by the sensor 12.
