The invention relates to a method for early carcinoma detection and to the precursors thereof provoked by human papilloma virus or associated therewith, a diagnosis being based on corporal samples. The inventive method consists in determining the existence of the viral protein of the human papilloma virus. Said viral protein is embodied in the form of a capsid protein, in particular the major L1 capsid protein. A test kid for carrying out said method is also disclosed.
