PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device which prevents abnormal printing such as image blank or ink leakage by preventing instability of a pressure at an ink passage which is brought about by a collection of bubbles at an ink cartridge sub tank pathway. SOLUTION: The image formation device has a separable ink cartridge 5, a sub tank 11 carried on an inkjet head 4, a means 69 for supplying an ink 40 from the ink cartridge 5 to the sub tank 11, and a reliability maintaining/recovering mechanism 27 for recovering/protecting a state of the inkjet head 4 and the sub tank 11. The image formation device is equipped with a control means 59. The control means 59 has the function of interrupting a maintenance operation in the case where the ink cartridge 5 is detected to fall off when the maintenance operation for the inkjet head 4 and the sub tank 11 is performed by an instruction of the user or by a state of the device.
