PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost, high-reliability, short-time measurable and high-precision positioning system, which allows a base station to tell its positioning mobile terminal the exact time of day in asynchronous WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system mobile telephone network, without installing LMU for each base station, as well as enabling OTDOA system-based positioning. SOLUTION: The positioning system specifies the distance to signal sources, based on a first signal source generating signal synchronized with reference time, a second signal source generating signal which is not synchronized with the first signal source, signal propagation time from these first and second signal sources, and signal propagation speed, to determine the position of receiving point. It receives only the signal from the first signal source to identify the receiving position(P) and time, uses this time to measure the reception time(T<SB>R</SB>) of a given event on the signal from the second signal source, and also calculates the time(T<SB>T</SB>), when the second signal source has generated the given event from both the P and the position of the second signal source(Q); then the positioning terminal uses the (T<SB>T</SB>) as a reference to receive the first signal source and carries out positioning.
