PORTABLE RESUSCITATION SYSTEM

A portable resuscitation system (10) that comprises a base unit (11), a lightweight oxygen cylinder (20), a suction device (22) driven by pressurised gas from the oxygen cylinder and a suction jar (28) for receiving material collected by the suction device. A manifold (21) operatively connects the oxygen cylinder (20) and the suction device (22) and pressurised gas will flow through the manifold and also provide oxygen to an oxygen supply means for delivering oxygen for breathing by a patient. The manifold is connected to the base unit and all other components are directly connected to the base unit or indirectly connected to the base unit through the manifold. The base unit is adapted to define a manual carrying handle (18), and to protect at least to some degree the other components from damage.
