PURPOSE: Provided is a low-melting fatty monocarboxylate of tin, which has good solubility in various solvents or solvent mixtures to permit coating liquid of tin carboxylate to be applied uniformly on various substrates used in a broad range of technological field. CONSTITUTION: The low-melting fatty monocarboxylate of tin is obtained by the method comprising the steps of: reacting a fatty monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof with an inorganic tin compound to obtain a fatty monocarboxylate of tin; and contacting the tin salt obtained from the preceding step with an oxygen-supplying material. The fatty monocarboxylic acid preferably has 4-30 carbon atoms. The oxygen-supplying material may be oxygen gas or oxygen-containing gas.
