LIQUID CRYSTAL COMPOSITION, RETARDATION PLATE USING IT, POLARIZING PLATE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition whose surface does not get sticky and an additive does not transfer to a cloth or the like, when the surface is rubbed with it, once the orientation of the liquid crystal compound is fixed, and a retardation plate.

SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition contains a liquid crystalline compound and a non-liquid crystalline compound which generates a polar group by the action of at least either of light or an acid. The retardation plate has at least one optically anisotropic layer formed of the liquid crystal composition on a transparent carrier.
