PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid storage battery superior in a life-time characteristic by suppressing accumulation of lead sulfate at the negative electrode due to reduction of charging receiving nature of the negative electrode which occurs in the case charge and discharge including a deep discharge are frequently repeated in the lead acid storage battery constituted so that a positive electrode grid body composed of a rolled body of Pb-Ca alloy is used and a negative electrode plate is housed in a bag-type separator. SOLUTION: The negative electrode plate to which 0.5 wt% to 4.5 wt% of barium sulfate with the average particle diameter of 1.0μm or more, and preferably of 1.0μm or more and 4.0μm or less is added is used, and weight ratio of the positive electrode active material to the weight of the negative electrode active material is made to be 0.92 or more, and preferably to be 1.25 or less.
