PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk substrate having a super fine texture working surface where a floating property of a head is not spoiled and capable of satisfactorily presenting magnetic anisotropy. SOLUTION: In a first texture working of a glass substrate, both surfaces of the glass substrate 1 are polished for 20 sec at 2 kg tape pressing pressure using polycrystalline diamond particles having 120 nm average particle diameter as polishing particles. In a second texture working, the surfaces are polished for 20 sec at 2 kg tape pressing pressure using polycrystalline diamond particles having 80 nm average particle diameter as polishing particles. Thereby, average surface roughness Ra of the disk substrate is made to be≤0.3 nm, square mean inclined angleΔa is made to be≥0.02 rad and density of texture grooves is made to be≥50 pieces/μm.
