PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that reproduction of a consecutive stream by another reproducing apparatus is discontinuous because the consecutive stream includes image compression data resulting from compressing a blue back image if a tape includes an unphotographed part when a reproduction signal of a photographed tape is compressed to generate the consecutive stream. SOLUTION: In reproducing the unphotographed part of the recorded tape 102, a DVC 101 generates therein a color change attached blue back image signal and provides an output. The image of the color change attached blue back image signal is not a mere blue image as shown in image data 205, 206 in Fig. but an image to which a distribution of an optional color change in a comparatively similar color group based on the blue color is given in the longitudinal and lateral directions of the image pattern and the form of the distribution of the color change of which is changed after lapse of a prescribed time. When an image compression section 106 compresses the color change attached blue back image, the amount of the compressed image data is not extremely small and the compressed image data with a sufficient amount can be obtained.
