PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To omit a permeable layer which has to be separately installed so as to prevent an increase in external force acting on a retaining wall, in a retaining wall structure constructed by using a steel pipe pile. SOLUTION: This steel pipe earth-retaining type retaining wall structure 1 wherein the steel pipe piles 2 are buried for construction in a line at prescribed intervals by a rotary press-in construction method, an inner-excavation press-in construction method or a rotary press-in construction method combined with inner excavation is characterized in that a joint-part steel pipe 3 which is set smaller in diameter than the steel pipe pile 2 and larger in diameter than a following clearance, or a joint-part steel material whose width is smaller in dimension than a diameter of the steel pipe pile and which is wider than the following clearance, is buried for arrangement in each clearance between the steel pipe piles 2 and 2 on the backside of the retaining wall structure in a state of closing a clearance between the steel pipe piles 2 and 2.
