PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for absorbing load energy by a rope, by which the energy absorptivity of the rope can be utilized maximally and a rope diameter can be reduced while a generated tension can be decreased. SOLUTION: Energy is absorbed by the breaking of short-sized ropes and long-sized ropes take charge of the absorption of residual energy absorbed by the short-sized ropes by installing a plurality of the wire ropes having mutually different lengths to the object and successively breaking the ropes from the short-sized ropes when a load is applied to the object.
