PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact projection type display device whose heat radiating efficiency is high by providing the case body of the projection type display device and a heat radiating member which can be housed and extracted. SOLUTION: This projection type display device 10 is provided with a light source 122, a light modulating device 113G for modulating a light from the light source and a projecting lens 111 for projecting a light modulated by the light modulating device. This projection type display device 10 is provided with a casing 150 for housing the light source, the light modulating device and the projecting lens and heat radiating members 301 and 302 which can be housed/extracted for the casing.
