PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a necessary image obtained by an electronic endoscope automatically by eliminating a manual operation to choose images to be displayed. SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope apparatus has hangers 20A, 20B on which for example two electronic endoscopes 16A, 16B, connected with a processor device 14, are hung when not in use. Detection sensors 22A, 22B detect whether the electronic endoscopes 16A, 16B are held by the hangers 20A, 20B. If a state that the two electronic endoscopes 16A, 16B are not held by the hangers 20A, 20B is detected and determined, one monitor 15 displays the image obtained for example by the electronic endoscope 16A on a main screen and the image obtained for example by the electronic endoscope 16B on a sub screen. The state whether the electronic endoscopes 16A, 16B are in use is determined by changes in luminance signals outputted from DSP (digital signal-processors) 31A, 31B. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
