BACKLIGHT UNIT OF LCD FOR IMPROVING LUMINANCE

PURPOSE: A backlight unit of an LCD is provided to make light components almost in parallel with diffusion plates face the diffusion plates by an optical element in an appropriate shape, thereby restraining the deterioration of the luminance on the diffusion plate and improving the luminance. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit of an LCD includes a pair of lamp supporting dies, diffusion plates(106), an optical sheet, backlight chasses, and reflection plates on upper and lower edges. Rod shaped optical elements(101) are positioned in the middle between two lamps(102) and formed of metal or resin material having light scattering/reflecting characteristics. The rod shaped optical elements are supported by the lamp supporting dies and scatters/reflects light facing the lamps toward the diffusion plates by its surface.
