The lantern is composed of a base (1), cover (1) and walls between them at least partially of an opaque or transparent material. The base or cover have L-shaped hooks or claws (2) projecting upwards and downwards, or troughs. The wall thickness is equal to or smaller than the clear width of the hooks/troughs. The base and cover have passages (7) to take locking bolts. The lantern walls can be bonded to troughs by an adhesive. A projecting side (4) has sprung balls (5) at the side edges as swing bearings for a lantern door.
