Method for simulating the detection area of a sensor, especially a motor vehicle ultrasonic sensor, has the following steps: simulation of the amplitude values and receiving times of echoes received by a sensor (10) receiver (E) for signals reflected from a standard body placed in various positions within the transmission beam area and determination for which of the positions the echo amplitudes are greater that predefined threshold values. The invention also relates to a corresponding computer program for implementation of the inventive method.
