The press (1) has a dryer (6) disposed downstream of a press cylinder and guiding a web along a path. A pull roll disposed downstream of the dryer conveys the web along the path with a given tensile stress. The rotational speed of a transfer cylinder (22) is increased with a rotational speed of an upstream transfer cylinder or an upstream non-illustrated pull roll of a roll changer (2). An independent claim is also included for a method of treating a printing material web in a printing material web processing machine.
