A washable mat comprises a textile layer 1 and a backing layer 2. The textile layer is a three-dimensional spacer fabric having first and second fabric layers 3, 4 and a resilient intermediate pile layer 5. Optionally a woven polyester substrate layer (not shown) may be provided between layers 1 and 2. Backing layer 2 may comprise rubber, particularly nitrile rubber. The textile layer may be produced by knitting on a Rachel machine. Uppermost fabric layer 3, may have an open mesh structure to allow dust and detritus to fall in to the interior of the textile, whereas lowermost fabric layer 4 has a close knit structure to prevent the backing from entering the textile during manufacture. Both layers may comprise a multifilament polyester yarn. The upper surface of the mat is capable of bearing a higher resolution printed image than tufted or long pile mats.
|
