PURPOSE: A message transmission and reception system using a digital STB(Set-Top Box) ID is provided to offer a satellite broadcasting additional service at low cost by transmitting a desired message to a specific STB using a satellite broadcasting system. CONSTITUTION: An Internet connection terminal(110) connects to the Internet(120) by wire and wireless. An STB control terminal(170) inputs a character message and an STB ID to digital TV STBs(150,160). A broadcasting provider(130) receives an image/character message and a digital TV STB control message together with a destination digital TV STB ID or a destination Internet connection terminal ID from the Internet connection terminal, and generates the received messages and the ID as stream. The broadcasting provider transmits the generated stream to a destination digital TV STB through a data channel using a satellite(140) or transmits the stream to the Internet(120). The digital TV STB receives the stream through the data channel. If the received stream corresponds to an ID of the digital TV STB and the image/character message, the digital TV STB stores the stream in a digital TV or reproduces the stored stream. If the stream corresponds to the control message, the digital TV STB performs an operation according to a control command. |
