Device for measuring the blood flow in an organ with the help of an injected indicator, whereby the indicator is tracked using a near infrared sensor that detects NIR radiation scattered from blood vessels from incident radiation from an NIR source. An evaluation unit evaluates both pulsed and non-pulsed components of the input signal and applies an iterative calculation in order to determine the blood flow function within the organ.
