PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide solid activated carbon that has a large specific surface, a low resistance and a large capacitance, when used as an electric double- layered capacitor. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method, 2.0 weight % or less alkali metal is contained in a solid activated carbon used as an electrode 1. The solid activated carbon mainly comprises an activated carbon powder and/or activated carbon fiber and a carbide of a binder such as thermosetting resin or thermoplastic resin. Alkali metal compounds such as sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide have activation action and enlarge the specific surface of activated carbon. |
