<p>A latch needle has a stitch support section (40) between the tip (38) of the latch (31) and the start of the rounded needle end (33). The support section can be straight or consist of a recess (41) that can be almost V-shaped. The support section (40) provides increased resistance to removal of the stitch over the needle. An independent claim is also included for a knitting cycle using such needles with a needle movement that allows the stitch to remain momentarily on the support section (40) after closing the latch so that the stitch hangs on both needles.</p> |
