PROJECTION TYPE IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE WITH ELEMENT FOR VARYING OVERDRIVE, LIGHT DEFLECTION DEVICE IN THE SAME, AND DIRECT IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE: A projection type image display device, a light deflection device in the same, and a direct image display device are provided to realize the motion picture display with less dual images even by a backlight having a less division, by dividing a hold type display panel into a plurality of areas in the vertical direction and mounting a backlight in each division to control the on/off of the backlights respectively. CONSTITUTION: A projection type image display device includes an over-drive control circuit(20) for varying over-drive according to a light radiation timing. The over-drive control circuit includes a counter(21), an image input element(2), an over-drive processing element(23), a frame memory(24) and an over-drive table(25). The counter output signals corresponding to horizontal/vertical position of pixels for input signals in response to input horizontal/vertical synchronization signals. Image signals input to the image input element is sent to the frame memory and the over-drive processing element. The frame memory keeps image signals of a frame before. The table stores output values(reinforcement values) for input values of a current frame per combination of current and previous input values for a same pixel. The output value is set to have a larger change between the input and output values of a previous frame rather than a change between current and previous input values of the previous frame. The over-drive processing element reads an output value corresponding to the combination of the current and previous input values from the table and output the output value to a panel driving part(15).
