SELF-SUPPORTING OPTICAL FIBER CABLE HAVING YARN ASSEMBLY AS CENTER STRENGTH MEMBER

PURPOSE: A self-supporting optical fiber cable having a yarn assembly as a center strength member is provided to improve the load supporting capacity and reduce outside diameter and weight by improving raw materials and a structure and of the center strength member. CONSTITUTION: A self-supporting optical fiber cable includes a center strength member, an optical fiber unit, and an external sheath. The center strength member(23) is formed with a yarn assembly(23a). The yarn assembly is formed by extending plural tensile yarns to the longitudinal direction of the self supporting optical fiber cable. The optical fiber unit(22) is used for covering an outer circumference of the center strength member. The optical fiber unit is twisted to the longitudinal direction of the self-supporting optical fiber cable. The external sheath(27) is used for covering the cable core assembly. The self-supporting optical fiber cable further includes a supporting tube(23b) for covering an outer circumference of the yarn assembly.
