PURPOSE: A method for driving a liquid crystal display device is provided to improve the response speed of the liquid crystal by driving a crystal cell with three voltage levels. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a liquid crystal display device includes: a first period applying a voltage to turn on the liquid crystal display cell during a predetermined time period; a second period applying a specific voltage lower than the threshold voltage of the liquid crystal during a predetermined time period; and a third period to turn off the liquid crystal display cell during a predetermined time period. The method is characterized in that the first to the third periods are subsequently repeated.
