PURPOSE: A regenerative system and method for burning low calorific gas is provided to stably burn waste gas by having a direct combustion chamber and a regenerative combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION: A regenerative system and method for burning low calorific gas is composed of a combustion chamber(1) having a direct combustion chamber(10) and a regenerative combustion chamber(20), an auxiliary fuel burner(40) connected to the direct combustion chamber and burning auxiliary fuel, a preheating gas inlet(50) connected to the auxiliary fuel burner, a gas discharge unit(60) connected to the regenerative combustion chamber and discharging burnt gas, a heat exchanger(80), and a guide tube(72). The heat exchanger is connected to the gas discharge unit, and has a low-calorific gas inlet(70) and a preheating gas outlet(71). The guide tube guides preheating gas discharged from the preheating gas outlet into the preheating gas inlet.
