478,040. Cooling dynamo - electric machines. SOC. D'APPLICATIONS ET DES FABRICATIONS INDUSTRIELLES (SAFI). Feb. 26, 1937, No. 5798. Convention date, March 3, 1936. [Class 35] An enclosed machine has an external fan on its shaft surrounded by a deflector, a radially disposed disc being provided between the fan and the bearing bracket to form with the bearing an annular space for the circulation of a bearing cooling stream of air, a stream of air also being passed over the external surface of the machine. In the form shown, part of the air drawn in by the fan 12 is passed through the annular space e and flows over the machine casing 1 and the rest circulates between the deflecting plate 12<2> carried by the fan and the outer side of the end bracket 11<1> as indicated by the arrow f<4>. Commutator risers 161 promote air circulation on the inside of this bracket as indicated by arrows f<5> also past the field poles and through the armature ducts 19 as indicated by the arrow f<6>.
