METHOD OF IMPROVING THE OXIDATIVE THERMAL STABILITY OF ETHYLENE POLYMERS

A method of improving the oxidative thermal stability of ethylene polymers i s disclosed. The method comprises removing residual unreacted monomer(s), solvent and thermally unstable species from t he polymer using a stripping agent and subsequent devolatilization. The resulting polymer is characterized by having an oxidative exotherm of not more than 50 percent of the original polymer, as measured by differential scanning calorimetry, as well as improv ed taste and odor properties.
