Air or gases are removed from ceramic bodies after shaping or moulding and the shaped body, while still plastic, is compacted by a sudden application of air or gas at atmospheric or a greater pressure. The shaped bodies are placed in an air-tight vessel connected to vacuum or reduced pressure which is suddenly broken by opening a valve. |
