PURPOSE: A method for controlling a reserved recording in a video recording apparatus is provided to wait for a reserved recording start by deciding that an advertisement is broadcasted, if a preview caption is included in a video frame received through a broadcasting channel, and to detect the preview caption even though a set reserved recording start time is not identical with a substantial broadcasting time, thereby exactly starting a reserved recording process. CONSTITUTION: A CPU sets/stores reserved recording start time information and broadcasting channel information as reserved recording information(S10). If a current time is ahead of a reserved recording start time(S11), the CPU automatically selects a reservation set broadcasting channel(S12), and detects whether a preview caption is displayed in a specific area of a video frame(S13). If so(S14), the CPU decides that an advertisement is broadcasted(S15). If the preview caption is turned off, the CPU starts a reserved recording operation(S16).
