The device has a box (2) fixed in a container (1) and provided with an ultrasonic emitter (5a) and receiver (5b) assembly. The emitter transmits an ultrasonic impulse on domestic waste relative to necessary echo time to allow an electronic processing card (7) to calculate distance between top of the container and upper level of the waste. A green lamp (4) is illuminated by the card if the container is filled to 40 percent.
