PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for managing a virtual LAN construction in an EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network) are provided to identify subscriber traffic and easily provide a QoS(Quality of Service) for the subscriber traffic. CONSTITUTION: A virtual LAN is constructed with plural ONUs(Optical Network Unit) and information on the construction of the virtual LAN is made for database for a systematic management(301). A command for changing the set virtual LAN, namely, a management command, is received from an operator(302). The management command is executed by searching the related data according to whether to set up a new virtual LAN or whether to delete the existing virtual LAN, and the database is updated with corresponding result(303).
