PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cache memory system with good time efficiency capable of automatically selecting an update entry from unused entries. SOLUTION: This system comprises a cache memory 8, a processor 30, a hit determination circuit 5, an interval timer 3, and a control register 4. When the content of the cache memory is updated to new information by an address cache or data cache having a full associative method or a configuration according to it, the use history of each entry constituting the cache memory is grasped by generation management using the timer to select an unused entry.
